Transformational Coaching: Is it for you?
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there. Rumi”
Transformational Coaching distinguishes between the patterns of actions, patterns of thinking, and patterns of choice making. It’s looking into how we choose to choose what we choose. In so doing we liberate ourselves from the original core beliefs of right and wrong, as well as good and bad, shoulds and shouldn’ts, allowing choice to arise from an essential knowing – the core wisdom that lives within us all.
Interested in establishing a Coaching Relationship?
A coaching relationship is built around your desires, your pace and your accountability. When you are ready enough to make a call, you are ready to begin the process of creating the coaching relationship that will serve you in unfolding the path before you, every step of the way. I invite you to take a walk on the wilder side of your life, adventuring into unknown territories, with curiosity, potential and at the same time perhaps feeling the inevitable fears of uncertainty of what may lie ahead.
Engaging in a transformational coaching relationship is an invitation to go beyond achievements of goals, even beyond success. It’s a choice to explore and discover what attaining your goals is really about – it’s a looking into what you are really after. I’m here in service to the fulfillment of your human spirit. Your journey may feel daunting, even overwhelming without an experienced and masterful partner who’s traveled many roads less traveled. But it is your journey and the call to begin has come.
Worried that you don’t know how to do what needs to be done? Or, wanting to step forward, hoping that I have the answers for you? My relationship with you is based on total respect of the wealth of experience and information you’ve accrued over your lifetime. If you have a dream and enough accountability to make things happen, then you’ve got what it takes to fulfill what you say you want. My commitment is to empower you to live into your dream.
I invite you to email or call to find out if coaching is right for you and if I’m the right coach. Finding the right coach is important and very simple: Can the coach meet you in your desires? Does it feel good to connect with this person? Is this someone with whom you’d like to share confidences? Not all coaches are created equal and not all coaching relationships are effective. Before calling, I invite you to get clear about what it is you are truly wanting? Consider picking up my book Self-Empowerment 101. Within its pages there are tons of important questions that will stimulate clarity of your intentions. They will empower you to connect with a coach or therapist to support you through a process of engaged and fulfilled living.
Becoming a Transformational Coach
Training to be a transformational coach requires a level of commitment and dedication to a larger knowing and a larger listening to occur within you, in service to your clients.
The model of Transformational Coaching that we recognize to be most valuable and effective in empowering people supports the principles of engaging with each individual in living in their own unique experience of humanity; as if they have been brilliant at creating life as it should be. It requires the development of the capacity to cultivate awareness within clients through the practice of inquiry. Inquiry is based in the principle that the client has created their reality brilliantly, purposefully, intentionally. They may not consciously know that they know, but from our perspective and experience, we believe they know why they chose what they chose. And so we ask!
We also ask our clients to perhaps see things another way – a way that is full of possibility – a way that is based on inspiration and a self-knowing. This requires of the client that they make a different choice – no longer a fear-based choice – a choice based on the perception that there are rights and wrongs, shoulds and shouldn’ts, good and bad, but an empowered self-honoring choice.
The Underpinnings of Developing our Survival Mechanisms
In the very youngest stages of development each of us does our damnedest to understand the rules of being a human being in a world that too often, doesn’t make sense. With no User-Manual available, to the best of our ability, we conjure up interpretations about our perceived reality, then proceed as if that is the truth. We then create evidence of that truth every step of the way. Through the creation of experience, one thought at a time, one choice at a time, we set in motion a process of being that will keep us secure in a reality of our own creation.
The strategies we set in place are effective at keeping us safe and secure enough to sustain the beliefs and the strategies over years – perhaps decades. At some point, in later stages of development, it becomes obvious that these beliefs, interpretations and strategies are limiting. Though they keep us safe, they aren’t allowing us to create what we say we want. Something is getting in our way. Most often it is the well-worn system of rights and wrongs that we’ve collected over time that keep us using habitual patterns, unable to see beyond the grooves of our existence.
Transformational Coaching empowers us to witness core beliefs and interpretations we create and how we are led to choose what we chose in service to what we currently want. We are astounded as we reveal our brilliance at creating the life that unfolded before us. It becomes self-evident that we have the power to choose to create new interpretations and beliefs, and then act in alignment with these new choices, effortlessly stepping into action that serves our highest truths, our highest good and our deepest desires.
